A. B. Don’t Fail Me Now!
I’m having Thanksgiving with K’s family this afternoon, and when I came down at 08:30:00 after my customary restful 5 hours of sleep, I discovered that the seeds I planted last year with my showings of Alton Brown’s Good Eats special “Romancing the Bird” had taken root… The dressing was in a crock pot, and the chefs were putting together a bunch of aromatics to stuff into the cavity of the turkey. There were some doubts about what Master Brown had used, so I cued up the episode on my laptop (why yes, I do have quick access to a lot of data) and we made the foil breastplate and stuck in the thermometer… It’s not a digital thermometer, so when K’s mother and I went out to feed and photograph the horses that she takes care of (galleries forthcoming), it spent a little too long in the oven, but I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out, and how everyone likes it. If they don’t like it, I’m kicked out of the family for my heretical influence! (Not really. ;)
Public Service Announcement
I was having some trouble with MKDS and the form factor of the NDS. It’s heavy and awkward, and I couldn’t hold it, accelerate, hop and shoot at the same time without giving myself RSI.
The solution:
Pelican’s Slide Grip. Now I can hold the thing with my ring and pinky fingers while operating all of the controls. They’re pretty well constructed for the price, and don’t affect portability much. When I use my
NDS15 case (which has a very tight pocket for the NDS itself), I just pop off the grips and stow them under the top cover. The elastic keeps them in place.
If you’re having similar ergonomic issues, these may well solve them. I got mine at
Best Buy for $15, although GameStop stores also tend to carry Pelican accessories. EBGames carries MadCatz, and they have a $40 kit that contains a battery/grip combination, although I have no idea about the quality of the grips. (By the way, the NDS15 is a very nice case, which is also available at Best Buy.)
Question of the Day
Q: In a 32×32 icon, is it possible to make a clear impression of a smiling pikachu wearing a tam-o-shanter of the Clan Pikafoop tartan?
A: Oh, heck yes it is. Set up to play a match with me, and you’ll see. ;)
(Also, if I get bored some time, I may reproduce it in a web-friendly image.)
